Kylian Mbappe has been touted to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window by Barcelona legend Rivaldo.
In his column for Betfair, Barcelona legend Rivaldo has tipped Kylian Mbappe to be on course for a move to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been linked with a possible exit from PSG at the end of the season.
Mbappe has taken the footballing world by storm since making his senior debut for AS Monaco back in the 2016-17 season, even being linked with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid post that season. The youngster has kicked up a notch upon joining PSG, becoming a truly world class player in the French capital while also having been a pivotal figure in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph.
In 120 outings for Les Parisiens, Mbappe has an incredible haul of 90 goals and 49 assists, showcasing just why he is regarded as one of the very best in the game. His progress, though, has made the 21-year-old the subject of interest from one of the biggest clubs in the world – Real Madrid.
Real Madrid did bolster their attack significantly last summer by signing Eden Hazard. However, the Belgian has not set the stage alight at the Bernabeu owing to a tryst with injuries this term. Nevertheless, Hazard is primed for big things at Real Madrid. Los Blancos, though, still remain adamant to add to their attacking ranks in the summer.
This interest could be stemming from the fact that Gareth Bale appears set to leave the club in the summer transfer window, even if it is on a free transfer. With Lucas Vazquez and James Rodriguez also tipped to depart the Bernabeu, the need to bolster the wide areas makes sense, despite the presence of Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. in the first-team setup.
Mbappe, to that end, is a viable target for Real Madrid. And now, Barcelona legend Rivaldo has reckoned that the 21-year-old could indeed be on his way to Spanish giants Real Madrid soon. Writing in his column on Betfair, the Barcelona legend said, “According to the press, Real Madrid should try to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2021.”
“Of course, the French attacker would be a good signing for them and would be a big boost for the club. PSG won’t let him go that easily or for a low price, but football is a commerce and the player doesn’t want to stay much longer in French football, so I think sooner or later he would make his move to Spain.”
“With all his talent and as a world champion for France, he would want to take a step forward in his career and play in one of the best leagues in the world. PSG are currently a Champions League contender, but the player will look for a bigger domestic challenge in La Liga or the Premier League.”
Rivaldo’s words suggest that Mbappe could soon be on the look-out for a move to one of the better leagues in Europe, with a switch to Real Madrid a major possibility. What now remains to be seen is if Los Blancos can see through a move for the French international, as tipped by the Barcelona legend.
