Arsenal are reportedly set to sign PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa on a Bosman this summer, with the defender agreeing a five-year deal with the Gunners.

According to a report by French outlet France Football, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Layvin Kurzawa over a move in the summer transfer window. The French international, who looks set to leave PSG on a free transfer at the end of the season, has reportedly agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners.

Kurzawa joined PSG from AS Monaco in the summer of 2015 and has since never quite managed to nail down a spot as a regular at Parc des Princes. Over the last four-and-a-half years, the French international has flitted in and out of the side quite regularly, although the last couple of seasons have quite a struggle for him.

Having played second fiddle to Juan Bernat in this period, Kurzawa has warmed the benched more often than not, and this term, he has started just 9 games till date. With his PSG contract set to wind down this summer, a free transfer has reportedly been mooted for the player. And, his status in the French capital has piqued the interest of Arsenal.

The fact that Arsenal have set their sights on Kurzawa comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Mikel Arteta already has a couple of left-backs at his disposal. Neither Sead Kolasinac nor Kieran Tierney have been rumoured to be on the exit trail at the North London club, making it a bit curious as to how Kurzawa would fit in the first-team setup at the Emirates.

While the 27-year-old can play as a centre-back as well, he would hardly be a solution at the heart of the Arsenal defence, considering he does not necessarily excel in the role. Nevertheless, if the report by France Football is to be believed, Arsenal are on the verge of sealing the deal for him.

However, unlike earlier reports, which suggested that Kurzawa was a January target for Arsenal, the one by France Football claims that a summer move awaits the French international. In fact, the report also claims that Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with the defender and have already agreed a five-year contract with him.

Kurzawa was also tailed by Inter Milan, only for him to reject their offer. The Nerazzurri have since signed Ashley Young, with the former Manchester United captain possibly being Kurzawa’s alternative. As for Kurzawa, it looks as if a move to Arsenal is now but a mere formality, with a Bosman transfer set for the summer.
