Real Madrid are reportedly unwilling to meet Chelsea’s £112 million valuation for Eden Hazard, who wants a deal to be in place by next week.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, there is a hiccup in Real Madrid’s pursuit of Eden Hazard. The La Liga heavyweights are unwilling to pay the £112 million transfer fee that Chelsea are demanding in exchange of the Belgian international, and are only prepared to shell out £86 million.

Hazard has made quite an ascent in reputation since joining Chelsea from Lille seven years ago. In this time, he has become one of the best players in the world, which was reflected in the way he has been influential for the Blues, having almost singlehandedly inspired them to a top four finish in the Premier League.

And, while he has not been a major part of Chelsea’s Europa League campaign, Hazard is in line to end the season with a trophy. But, that could well be his last triumph with the West Londoners, with a dream move to Real Madrid believed to be on the cards for the 28-year-old.

Los Blancos are coming off their worst campaign in recent memory, having ended it without a trophy, with bitter rivals Barcelona a staggering 19 points ahead. With Zinedine Zidane back at the helm, Real Madrid are now set for a squad revamp, with one of the focus points being attack.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure left a huge void in the Real Madrid dressing room on several accounts. As far as the tangibles are concerned, the Merengues are in desperate need of more goals and creativity, something that Hazard brings to the table, following a season that saw him record a return of 16 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League.

Having dropped a number of hints over a possible dream move to Real Madrid, it has long been thought that he would be allowed to make his way to the Spanish capital, especially with his deal with Chelsea only having a year remaining. But, Chelsea are set to make it tough for Real to secure the services of their top target.

The Blues have slapped a £112 million price tag on Hazard despite the remaining duration of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid have naturally been taken aback by the valuation and are only willing to stump up £86 million for the Chelsea superstar.

Hazard though, wants the two clubs to reach a resolution over a transfer fee before he joins the Belgian squad for next month’s European Championship qualifiers. And, with reports that he is open to submitting a transfer request, chances are Chelsea’s hand could be forced to some extent.

While Chelsea might not stand in Hazard’s way of securing a dream move to Real Madrid, their £112 million valuation is playing spoilsport at the present moment. It now remains to be seen if either club compromises on the transfer fee, or if the standoff continues.
