Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Belgian international Thomas Meunier as an alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester United have decided to end their interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Crystal Palace’s £60 million valuation pricing them out of a deal. The Premier League heavyweights have now turned their attention towards Thomas Meunier over a deal in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Meunier has made steady progress since joining PSG from Club Brugge in the summer of 2016. Three years on, he is still not an indispensable figure in the first-team setup at Parc des Princes, but has still made some important contributions for the French champions.

The 27-year-old has also been a key figure for Belgium, having played an important part in the Red Devils’ third place finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. And, he could now be set to be associated with the Red Devils at club level as well, with Manchester United interested in signing him.

Ahead of a summer of remodelling, the right-back slot appears to be one that needs to be addressed by Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Antonio Valencia has departed the club, while Matteo Darmian is expected to call it quits at Old Trafford as well this summer.

Diogo Dalot is still seemingly considered as someone who needs a lot of grooming, if judged by the minutes he received towards the end of the season, while errors have started creeping into Ashley Young’s game. It, therefore, seems imperative that a right-back is brought in at Manchester United this summer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was believed to be the priority for the Premier League side, but his £60 million price tag has put them off. And so, Manchester United have turned their attention towards Meunier, holding fresh talks with PSG over the Belgian international.

What also makes him an appealing target is his £25 million valuation, although the player would admittedly like to remain at PSG. But, with just one more year remaining on his deal with Les Parisiens, Manchester United might fancy their chances.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka no longer seems to be a target for Manchester United, with Crystal Palace successfully pricing them out of a deal. It now remains to be seen if they can secure the services of Thomas Meunier, whose time at PSG could come to an end this summer.
