Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly been alerted to the potential availability of Edinson Cavani, who is looking to exit PSG in the summer transfer window.

According to an exclusive report run by Italian publication Calciomercato, Edinson Cavani has his heart set on a move to the Premier League. The striker is looking to call time on his PSG stint in the summer transfer window, which has alerted the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and his former side Napoli.

The report states that while Napoli have been listed as one of the interested parties, the club will need Cavani to lower his wage demands if he wants to return to his former club. Cavani, on the other hand, is looking for a foray into English football for the first time in his career and is gunning for a transfer to the illustrious Premier League.

Edinson Cavani has had quite a record at PSG despite being surrounded by other prolific stars. The Uruguayan has knocked in 22 goals and provided 8 assists this season so far in just 29 games in all competitions. 104 goals in 138 games for Napoli and 192 in 275 for PSG make for impressive numbers for a forward.

Cavani has courted interest from several top clubs during his time at PSG. The current season though, has seen a few problems arise, with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar taking the centre stage of sorts, at the club, despite Edinson Cavani as the central striker. The Uruguayan is now looking to exit the club and move to a new challenge, something that has alerted Chelsea and Manchester United.

Chelsea might not be able to sign players in the summer transfer window. But, in the event that they can, a quality striker would be top of the list. Alvaro Morata was brought in with much hope. But, he departed after showing only flames of the prolific nature Chelsea want in their frontman. Gonzalo Higuain was brought in during the January transfer window on a loan deal.

But, the Argentine has failed to inspire confidence in his own ability and he genuinely looks out of tune with the other players at Chelsea. The latest example was against Manchester United, wherein he was caught offside a lot, with Higuain seemingly not able to make runs that suit the passing style and wavelength of the rest of the squad.

Manchester United have a similar, if not a bigger dilemma. Marcus Rashford has been out of form for a couple of months now. And while Romelu Lukaku is showing signs of improvement, he too has been lacklustre in front of goal recently and overall looks short of the match fitness that was highlighted against Chelsea during the weekend.

With Solskjaer preferring the 4-4-2 formation, he would love to add another striker to the team, especially with both Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku being linked with a summer move away from the club.

PSG have not performed well towards the end of the season, with just the Ligue 1 trophy to show for their efforts. There is sure to be another overhaul in the summer, which might involve bringing in a central striker.

Cavani is looking for a move to the Premier League, which might come as a boost to Manchester United, if they intend to pursue his signature. Chelsea will hope to compete unless their transfer ban starts from the summer.
