Transfer News: Eden Hazard agrees personal terms with Real Madrid

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid over a five-year €13 million-a-season deal ahead of a summer move.

According to a report by Spanish publication Sport, who have cited Eduardo India on ‘El Chiringuito’, Real Madrid have inched closer to securing the services of Eden Hazard ahead of the summer transfer window. Los Blancos have agreed terms over a €13 million-a-year deal with the Chelsea superstar.

It has been one of the most poorly kept secrets in European football over recent years. Real Madrid have had Eden Hazard in their sights, with the Belgian international himself declaring his intentions to play for the record 13-time UEFA Champions League winners one day, while also respecting his contract with Chelsea.

In fact, Los Blancos had been keen on securing the services of the 28-year-old last summer as well, with the player’s comments in the aftermath of Belgian’s third-place finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup setting things in motion for a possible move. In the end, however, a transfer could not see the light of the day as Hazard stayed put at Chelsea.

But, with Chelsea continuing to be far from convincing and depending too heavily on him, it is being mooted that Hazard could bring an end to his seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge in the summer. Real Madrid would thus, be fancying their chances of signing him, especially with the player talking up the prospect of a switch to the Bernabeu plenty of times in recent months.

The European champions are indeed desperate to bolster their attack with quality options, with their incumbent options failing to fill the void of Cristiano Ronaldo. The inconsistencies of Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale in the wide areas has been particularly disappointing, which is why Real Madrid have entered the market for a winger, with Hazard being a priority.

And, if the report is anything to go by, Los Blancos may be set to sign the Chelsea superstar in the summer. Eduardo Inda has claimed that Hazard will sign a five-year deal with Real Madrid that will see him pocket €13 million per season in addition to €3.5 million in variables.

These variables include a La Liga triumph, winning the Ballon d’Or and winning the Champions League. Chelsea though, are unlikely to part ways with their prized asset cheaply, even if they make peace with the idea of selling him to Real Madrid.

As things stand, however, it is looking increasingly likely that Eden Hazard will call it quits at Chelsea in the summer before going on to sign a lucrative €13 million-a-year deal with Real Madrid.
