Chelsea are reportedly looking to move Callum Hudson-Odoi off the books in January, with the Bayern Munich target rated around the £25 million mark.
According to The Sun, Chelsea might be ready to let go of their academy superstar Callum Hudson-Odoi. The winger, who has managed to break into the first-team setup this season, is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich and could leave the club in the January transfer window.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has always been touted as one of the brightest emerging talents within the Chelsea youth setup. The forward has been knocking on the first-team door for a year now and has finally been able to make himself a proper part of the senior setup at Chelsea.
With Maurizio Sarri a fan of chopping and changing for cup events, Hudson-Odoi has had a chance to showcase his talents in the UEFA Europa League. The English youngster, who can play all across the front three, has impressed while being deployed in his preferred position on the left side of the attack, with a goal and an assist to show for in 4 games so far.
Chelsea are strapped off options in the wing department, with Willian, Pedro, Eden Hazard and Hudson-Odoi the only options for Maurizio Sarri. But, if the reports are true, Chelsea could be looking to let go of the winger that has only just managed to break into the first-team.
Hudson-Odoi though, has an admirer in Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians are struggling in their first season under Niko Kovac, with the manager likely to be entrusted to oversee the rebuilding of the side. One of the major tasks is to find suitable replacements for the dynamic duo of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Bayern Munich do have Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry in their squad. But, Kovac is looking to dive into the market for at least one more winger and Hudson-Odoi could be the man.
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to let go of the player for around £25 million, a fee Bayern Munich would be glad to shell out if it means securing a talent as prodigious as Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The only point of concern in the report is that Bayern Munich are likely to be looking for a more cultured player in January as Hudson-Odoi would obviously not be ready to produce performances at a level akin to Ribery and Robben.
But, with January always expected to be a tough time to convince big names to move, Bayern Munich could bankroll a bid for the 18-year-old, who the Chelsea fans would be gutted to see leave Stamford Bridge.
