Aaron Ramsey is reportedly open to joining Chelsea and Manchester United, amid concerns at Arsenal over the player’s uncertain future.

According to a report by ESPN, Aaron Ramsey has no qualms in joining one of Arsenal’s big six rivals in the Premier League, should he end up departing from the Emirates on a free transfer. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United have thus, been handed a major boost over the prospect of landing the Welsh superstar.

Ramsey’s contract situation with Arsenal has been the subject of intense speculation for the better part of 2018. A scenario that is similar to the one that the Gunners uncomfortably found themselves in with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil has eerily resurfaced in the form of the Welsh superstar.

History just might be about to repeat itself, as far as Sanchez’s situation is concerned. Talks between Arsenal and Ramsey over a new deal have completely broken down, and just as it was in the case of Sanchez, Manchester United have propped up with their interest, alongside Chelsea, with both clubs looking to snap him up for free.

Chelsea have been following Ramsey for some time, having also scoured the possibility of signing him in the summer. In the end, the Blues zeroed in on Mateo Kovacic, who has settled seamlessly. But, the Croat might not join the West Londoners on a permanent transfer, with Real Madrid not including the option to buy in the loan deal.

Ramsey is thus, a viable alternative to Kovacic for Chelsea, with the Arsenal superstar having more than a decade’s worth of experience in the English top flight. Manchester United, on the other hand, hold a long-standing interest in the 27-year-old, having nearly signed him before his move to Arsenal.

The continued interest in Ramsey makes a great deal of sense as well, owing to Paul Pogba’s uncertain future. Ramsey, with his qualities, will be almost a like-for-like replacement for the Frenchman, making him a viable target for Manchester United, who alongside Chelsea, have now received a major boost in pursuit of the Welsh superstar.

As per the report, Ramsey is open to joining one of Arsenal’s big six rivals if and when he runs down his contract at the Emirates. Chelsea and Manchester United’s only predicament is their inability to negotiate a pre-contract with the player, unlike foreign clubs like Juventus, who are also in the fray.

But, if Ramsey indeed has no qualms making a sideways move to one of the Premier League’s elite, Chelsea and Manchester United could well go all out when his contract finally runs out in the summer. It all makes for an enticing transfer battle – one where Arsenal are highly likely to come off the worst.
