Transfer News: Juventus set to offer £250,000-a-week deal to Aaron Ramsey

Juventus are reportedly eager to usurp Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of Aaron Ramsey, with a £250,000-a-week deal set to be offered.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Juventus have set their sights on Aaron Ramsey. The Bianconeri are willing to offer the Arsenal contract rebel a lucrative pre-contract worth £250,000 per week, in a bid to beat the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in his pursuit.

History seems to be repeating itself at Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez’s erstwhile contract situation had already left a sour taste in their mouths earlier this year, although Mesut Ozil’s renewal did ease some of the unrest. But, with Aaron Ramsey, the Gunners find themselves in a similar situation once again.

The Welshman has less than a year remaining on his current deal with Arsenal and talks over a new deal have stalled completely. While Ramsey continues to remain a key figure for Unai Emery, it has become plainly clear that he could be reaching the end of his decade-long association with the North Londoners, which has piqued the interest of Chelsea, Manchester United and several others.

At Chelsea, Ramsey’s arrival could go a long way in creating a formidable long-term unit, while doing away with those who are surplus to requirements. Additionally, with Mateo Kovacic’s loan deal not having an option to buy, the 27-year-old is a viable target, should the Blues fail to land the Croat on a permanent deal.

Manchester United, on the other hand, appear to be eyeing Ramsey in a bid to replace a player who has often been compared to the Arsenal superstar. Paul Pogba faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, and should he end up departing sometime next year, a player like Ramsey could be a like-for-like replacement.

But, Chelsea and Manchester United could face an uphill task in their attempts to sign Ramsey, as they cannot start negotiating a pre-contract with the player in the January transfer window, unlike foreign clubs. This is where Juventus come into the picture, as they look to usurp the Premier League duo.

The Bianconeri are willing to offer a lucrative pre-contract to Ramsey as they won’t have to shell out a big sum to secure his services. The fact that the player is demanding a £250,000-a-week deal does not faze them for now, and they are striving to add the player to an already top class midfield unit.

Ramsey will indeed add something different to the first-team squad at Juventus, whose playing style under Massimiliano Allegri should suit him as well. As far as Manchester United and Chelsea are concerned, the two clubs will have to play the “Wait and Watch” game.

What appears certain for now is that Aaron Ramsey will not be an Arsenal player next season. It remains to be seen though, if either Chelsea or Manchester United can keep him in the English top-flight, or if he opts for a lucrative move abroad instead.
