Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in Alex Sandro, and are planning a fresh assault to land the Brazilian international

According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Alex Sandro is the subject of interest from Manchester United once again. The Premier League heavyweights are planning to launch the assault for the Brazilian international in the January transfer window, in an attempt to bolster their defence.

Alex Sandro has undergone a meteoric rise in stature since joining Juventus from FC Porto in the summer of 2015. Over the last three years, the Brazilian international has gone on to establish himself as a key figure in the Bianconeri’s first-team setup.

But, despite being a regular at the Allianz Stadium, the 27-year-old’s future at the club has been uncertain for a while now. It was a similar story in the summer transfer window, when Manchester United had been eager to secure his services. And, the Red Devils are set to make a move for him once again.

The continued interest from Manchester United though, comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Sandro was initially being considered as a replacement for the then-underperforming Luke Shaw. The English international has since resurrected a stuttering career at Old Trafford, and has arguably been their best player so far this season.

With Shaw fit and firing, it is slightly perplexing where the Brazilian international will fit into the scheme of things for Jose Mourinho. But, if signed by Manchester United, Sandro could create a two-pronged left-back arsenal for the Red Devils that would serve them well in at least the short-term future.

Manchester United though, are unlikely to be alone in pursuit of the Brazilian international, with PSG also reportedly eager to secure his services. What also gives the two sides an impetus in the player’s pursuit is the fact that he will not be cup tied if they are to use him in the Champions League, following the latest updates in the rules.

For now, it appears as if the Premier League heavyweights will launch a new assault for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window. It now remains to be seen if Manchester United can finally succeed in pursuit of Alex Sandro, or if they end up failing to secure his services once again.
