Barcelona have tabled a shock bid for Paul Pogba to Manchester United, with €50 million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes on offer.

According to renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Barcelona have made a staggering offer to Manchester United in order to prise away Paul Pogba this summer. The La Liga champions put tabled a bid worth €50 million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, which has been swiftly rejected by United.

Pogba has not had the best of times since returning to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2016. While the Frenchman has been a pivotal figure for the Premier League heavyweights over the last two seasons, there have also been times when his inconsistent performances have seen him clash with Jose Mourinho.

The latter scenarios have reportedly seen him become a hot property in the transfer market, with the rumour mill in full swing about the French international’s uncertain position at Manchester United. One club that has been heavily linked with Pogba are Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have already heavily reinforced their midfield this summer, with the latest addition being Arturo Vidal. The Chilean’s arrival at Camp Nou means Barcelona now have eight midfielders, and nine if one considers Sergi Roberto as one for the upcoming campaign.

In all this, the interest in Pogba does not make a great deal of sense, as the Frenchman’s recruitment from Manchester United will unnecessarily cramp up a midfield unit that is unlikely to have more than three starters at once. Nevertheless, Barcelona seem to be keen on landing Pogba, even though word from the club have denied the same.

And, if Di Marzio is to be believed, Barcelona have made an astonishing offer worth €50 million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes to land Pogba. Among the duo, Mina has been heavily linked with Manchester United, although recent reports suggest that Everton are the favourites to sign him after the Red Devils pulled the plug on their pursuit of the Colombian.

Gomes is also on the chopping block at Barcelona, who could be offering the Portuguese as a direct replacement for Pogba. However, Manchester United have swiftly knocked back the offer, and for good reason.

Firstly, Pogba is a key figure for Mourinho, despite the duo’s previous disagreements. Secondly, he is a symbol for the brand that is Manchester United. But, reliable journalist Gerard Romero has gone on to squash the entire rumour by Di Marzio, claiming that the offer was never even tabled, although Barcelona are interested in him.

One thing is clear though, regardless of which side of the story is true. Manchester United are unlikely to be open to part ways with Pogba, even if Barcelona offer any player(s) as part of a deal. But, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can somehow prise the Frenchman away from Old Trafford.
