Chelsea and Tottenham have reportedly been put on alert, with Liverpool target Nabil Fekir available for £66 million this summer.

According to a report by The Sun, Lyon are ready to sell Nabil Fekir in the summer transfer window despite following his failed move to Liverpool. The Ligue 1 outfit have slapped a £66 million price tag on the Frenchman, with Chelsea and Tottenham put on alert by his availability.

Fekir has become a hot property in the European transfer market this summer after a stunning campaign with Lyon. Entrusted with the club captaincy at the start of the season, the Frenchman was in his elements all through the campaign, with an impressive tally of 23 goals and 8 assists in 40 outings across all competitions.

Having showed once again why he is rated highly in France, Fekir has unsurprisingly become a highly sought-after player in the transfer market, with Liverpool heavily linked with a summer move. In fact, the Reds were on the cusp of securing the player’s services before the move broke down.

If widespread reports are to be believed, Liverpool had agreed personal terms with Fekir, who had even picked his shirt number and completed his first official interview with the club’s site. But, disagreement over the transfer fee saw Lyon refuse to sell the player, who is now back on the market, with Chelsea and Tottenham, in particular on alert.

Chelsea are in a very uncertain position, with very little clarity on Antonio Conte’s future and little to no movement in the transfer market. Fekir is, thus, essentially their first concrete transfer target, whose addition would go a long way in providing Eden Hazard with ample support in attack, especially with Willian being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham, unlike Chelsea, have been linked with a number of transfer targets in recent weeks, with Mauricio Pochettino intent on bolstering his attacking options, owing to very little proven quality beyond Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. With Eriksen being linked with a possible move to Barcelona, Fekir could also be a replacement for the Dane, and is a viable target regardless.

Meanwhile, Liverpool haven’t given up on signing Fekir either, and will provide stiff competition to Chelsea and Tottenham for the Frenchman. In fact, the player’s agent has claimed this week that a possible move to Anfield could still be possible, making the transfer saga all the more interesting.

However, Lyon have made it clear that while they are willing to sell Fekir, they will only do so at their terms. The Ligue 1 outfit have slapped a £66 million price tag on the 24-year-old – perhaps, explaining why they pulled the plug on the deal with Liverpool, who were only ready to offer £53 million in exchange of his services.

It is still not clear if Liverpool would be willing to match Lyon’s asking price or not, but their hesitancy could see Chelsea and Tottenham jump into action. Spurs though, have the advantage of offering Champions League football, while the Blues are likely to provide more regular game time.

The transfer saga concerning Fekir is certainly becoming increasingly interesting by the day, with no clarity over where he’ll end. The player though, was tight-lipped when asked about his failed transfer to Liverpool and his future at a pre-match press conference for the French National Side ahead of their clash with Peru.

Till then, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are likely to be indulging in a three-horse race for him. Whichever way he goes, Fekir is sure to provide a definitive boost as the three clubs look to close the gap on Manchester City atop the English football summit.
