PSG have reportedly joined the race to sign Ryan Sessegnon, who is also the subject of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, PSG have joined a long list of Ryan Sessegnon’s admirers, that will be clamouring for his signature in the summer transfer window. The Fulham prodigy is also being tailed by Manchester United and Tottenham, among other English clubs.

Sessegnon has the world at his feet at the nascent age of 17. Having broken into the first-team setup at Fulham last season, the teenager has taken no time to establish himself as a pivotal figure at Craven Cottage as the West Londoners bid to regain their Premier League status.

In what has been a remarkable campaign for the 17-year-old, Sessegnon has made 49 appearances for the Cottagers this season, with 15 goals and 6 assists to his name. Additionally, he has also won every available honour at the EFL awards while also becoming the first Championship player to be shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year.

With such honours and numbers backing his burgeoning reputation of being one of the most promising prospects in world football, it is hardly surprising that Sessegnon is attracting interest from the who’s who of Europe. The most prominent interest is from England, with Manchester United and Tottenham leading the race to sign him.

At Manchester United, the need to sign a left-back has arisen due to Luke Shaw’s inability to win Jose Mourinho over in the last two seasons. The Englishman had been earmarked as the long-term solution at left-back when he moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2014, but that has hardly been the case.

In Shaw’s stead, the Manchester United manager has had to deploy Ashley Young as the makeshift left-back. While the veteran Englishman has done a superb job in a position that was largely alien to him prior to the season, he is on the wrong side of 30, and won’t be at Old Trafford for many more years.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are set to offload Danny Rose in the summer, with the English defender coincidentally linked with Manchester United. With Ben Davies as his only other option, Mauricio Pochettino is rightly prioritising the signing of a left-back, with Sessegnon a viable target.

But, Manchester United and Tottenham have now been joined by PSG in pursuit of the player. Les Parisiens’ current left-back options are Layvin Kurzawa and Yuri Berchiche, but the former is reportedly on the exit trail at Parc des Princes, meaning the French champions need to sign a left-back in the summer.

The 17-year-old certainly won’t come cheap, with Fulham slapping a £50 million price on him. But, the West Londoners would prefer not selling Sessegnon, although their hands will be tied if they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League from the playoffs after narrowly missing out on automatic qualification.

If Sessegnon is indeed sold, PSG and Manchester United will face an uphill task, with the player preferring to stay in London, handing Tottenham an advantage in his pursuit. It now remains to be seen where the teenage prodigy plies his trade next season as the race to sign him intensifies.
