Jose Mourinho has reportedly convinced Gareth Bale to leave Real Madrid and join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication Sport, Gareth Bale has been convinced to call it quits at Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has talked the Welsh superstar to depart the Bernabeu make the switch to Old Trafford.

Bale joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 amid much fanfare, having been widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects in the world at the time. While the player has gone on to establish himself among the best in his position, the last couple of seasons have seen him struggle for fitness.

Bale has been in a similar predicament in the current campaign as well, having featured in just 29 of the 48 games that Real Madrid have competed in so far. But, he has shown that he still hasn’t lost the desire in the final third, with 12 goals and 7 assists to show for his efforts.

This perhaps, explains why Bale continues to be a popular figure in the transfer market, with Manchester United and others reportedly in his pursuit as his career at Real Madrid appears to be heading for its end in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have long been linked with Bale, having also tried to sign him before his move to Real Madrid. With a departure from the Bernabeu reportedly destined to happen, the player might just be on his way to the Premier League heavyweights this summer.

The Welsh international seems to fit the bill perfectly for Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho admittedly in search of a player who can command the right side of attack naturally. At 28, he is enjoying the best years of his career as well, injuries permitting, and the report suggests that he is inching closer to the move to Old Trafford.

Mourinho has been trying to convince Bale to switch allegiances from Real Madrid to Manchester United since last summer. And he has finally succeeded, with Bale persuaded to call it quits at the Bernabeu after being overlooked for several important games in recent weeks.

It now remains to be seen if Manchester United’s long-standing pursuit of Bale finally comes to fruition in the summer transfer window, or if some other club emerges in the race to sign him. What appears to be certain is that the player’s time at Real Madrid is coming to an end.
