Chelsea are reportedly set to offer Eden Hazard a bumper new deal worth £300,000 per week, amid interest from Real Madrid over a summer move.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Chelsea have reportedly initiated talks over a new contract with Eden Hazard, and are willing to offer him £300,000 per week to convince him to put pen to paper on the renewal. Real Madrid are interested in signing the Belgian winger, who is open to a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Hazard has transformed from a highly-rated young winger to a truly world class player who can be considered among the best in the world in his position during his time at Chelsea. The talisman for the West Londoners, he has played a starring role in each of the Blues’ two Premier League title wins in the last three seasons.

Hazard has been in his elements this season as well, with a fantastic record of 15 goals and 11 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions to show for his efforts. It is such impressive numbers that have made him a highly sought-after figure in the transfer market, with interest from fellow Premier League clubs but more prominently, from Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have only recently started to look the part as an attacking unit, with their La Liga title defence up in smokes. While Cristiano Ronaldo was inconsistent in the first half of the season, he was still mustering up decent numbers for Real Madrid, scoring more than any other teammate.

What has been damning for the Spanish and European champions this season is the alarming slump in Karim Benzema’s form – the Frenchman has scored just 8 goals in 29 outings. To make matters worse, Gareth Bale’s perennial fitness problems have ended up making him a liability for Real Madrid, thereby accentuating their need to bolster the attack in the summer.

Bale, in particular, seems set to be sent to the chopping block, with certain murmurings also suggesting that Real Madrid could offer a player plus cash deal involving the Welshman in order to tempt Chelsea into selling Hazard. But, the Blues are determined to keep hold of their prized possession.

As per the report, Chelsea have initiated talks with Hazard over a new deal despite his current contract running till June, 2020. The Premier League champions though, are looking to entice the 27-year-old to snub Real Madrid and remain at Stamford Bridge by hiking his wages to £300,000 per week.

What would give them hopes of Hazard putting pen to paper on the new deal is the fact that the player himself has insisted that he is going to sign a renewal soon. Real Madrid, though, could still attempt to sign the Belgian international, who has publicly shown his admiration for the club and Zinedine Zidane.

It now remains to be seen if Chelsea can tie Hazard down to a new deal and more importantly, if they can succeed in keeping hold of the player beyond the summer transfer window. Their final Premier League position will certainly have a huge bearing on the same, and they would hence, hope to qualify for the Champions League.
