Real Madrid are reportedly preparing an audacious €200 million summer bid for Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne.

If the report from Spanish publication Don Balon is to be believed, a new player has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid as Los Blancos continue to lay down their plans for the summer transfer window. The club are reportedly plotting a €200 million bid for Manchester City’s prime creator Kevin De Bruyne.

Kevin De Bruyne showed enough promise to earn him a move to Chelsea. But, it was at Wolfsburg where he burst onto the scene as a player who had the capability to pull the strings and be a difference maker. And since joining Manchester City, the Belgian has become a truly world-class creator.

Under Pep Guardiola, De Bruyne has been earning praise for standing out, even amidst the array of superstars Manchester City have. This season in particular, the 26-year-old has 14 assists and 7 goals in the league alone, in just 27 matches – an incredible return considering the level of the Premier League.

While Real Madrid do have the likes of Isco and Luka Modric to take care of the need for creativity in the squad, the Croatian has been a bit silent this season while Isco has been used sparingly by Zidane. Add to that the failure of their frontline to convert the chances created and it is no wonder as to why they have struggled to provide much of a competition to Barcelona in La Liga this season.

De Bruyne seems to be in the form of his life and at 26, is likely to have at least half a decade of quality service to provide. Real Madrid, as reported, are looking to break the bank in order to bring the Belgian over to the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos have been linked with a move for Hazard, seemingly their priority target in the summer, and it is worth noting that Real Madrid are unlikely to bankroll two big moves in the summer. But, if the rumoured cash plus Gareth Bale offer is accepted by Chelsea for Hazard, we might see Real Madrid put in the reported €200 million bid for Kevin De Bruyne.

While Manchester City are not strapped for cash, and given the presence of their billionaire owner, are unlikely to have a financial crunch in the foreseeable future, a push from De Bruyne to seek a move could see them accept the offer.

The €200 million windfall on the other hand, could be used to bring in multiple quality players to Etihad. The move though, will likely hinge upon Manchester City’s Champions League campaign as the Citizens are on course to win the Premier League this season.

But, Real Madrid could entice him with a better shot at the Champions League trophy if Manchester City fail to make it count in the premier European competition once more. A rumour that should become clearer as the season ends or perhaps after the World Cup.
