Tottenham are reportedly lining up a shock move for Luis Suarez to replace Harry Kane, who is being targeted by Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish publication Don Balon, Luis Suarez is a shock target for Tottenham. The Premier League entertainers are plotting a summer move for the Barcelona striker as they prepare themselves to lose the services of Harry Kane, who is the subject of persistent interest from Real Madrid.

Suarez has long been regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, having been one of the most prolific players in the game over the last few years. For Barcelona, the player has been a key figure since joining from Liverpool in the summer of 2014 in a reported £65 million deal.

In all, Suarez has an astounding record of 131 goals and 73 assists in 169 appearances for Barcelona, which also suggests that he has been a vital cog in the buildup of goals. And in what has arguably been his worst season since the move to Camp Nou, he still has a decent return of 10 goals and 3 assists in 22 outings.

Suffice to say, Suarez has been a great fit at Barcelona, and it goes without saying that several clubs could do with his services, even at this stage of his career. Gary Neville has previously said that Manchester United should attempt to sign the Uruguayan, but another Premier League club could soon be making a move.

Tottenham have a precarious situation at hand regarding the future of Harry Kane, who currently has the world at his feet after finishing 2017 with a gamut of records, while also being the top scorer of the calendar year.

Needless to say, his exploits have been attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world, with Real Madrid hot on his tailsLos Blancos are reportedly preparing an offer that could be too hard to refuse for Daniel Levy, who is known to often cash in on his players when the price is right.

Should Kane leave Tottenham in the summer to come, the North Londoners would be severely short of goals, which is why they have turned their attention towards Suarez, who is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona decide to sell Suarez to Tottenham, despite a lull in the ongoing season. The striker shares a close relationship with Lionel Messi, who is unlikely to be a happy man if the Uruguayan leaves.

Suarez’s history with Liverpool also suggests that it could be a tall order for Tottenham to sign him. What seems to be certain for now is that Tottenham are keeping their options open as Kane continues to rise in stature in world football.
