Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly facing competition from Serie A in pursuit of Ajax starlet David Neres, hailed as ‘little Neymar’.

According to an exclusive report from Italian publication Calciomercato, AC Milan are the newest entrants in the race to sign Ajax sensation David Neres. The Brazilian, dubbed ‘little Neymar’, is also on the radar of Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus.

David Neres’ nickname might turn some heads but his performances for Ajax seemed to be turning many more. A January arrival in Europe, his start in the continent has been sublime. The present season has seen Neres take on the mantle in Eredivisie – a league he has managed to own so far.

11 assists and 8 goals in just 16 appearances bear testimony to the aforementioned statement. It is this form that is beginning to draw attention from a whole array of top European outfits – Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Juventus and AC Milan are all rumoured to be interested in the player.

Jose Mourinho seems intent on adding to his options on the wing, be it in January or the summer to come. United look toothless especially on the right wing, with most of their attacks emanating from the left. Their weakness seems to have been found out by the teams in recent times, with the club being held to draws by teams lower than them on the Premier League table.

Arsenal too, are looking to recruit wingers to their squad, especially with Alexis Sanchez more than likely to exit the club in the near future. The Gunners will also love to add an explosive talent like Neres to their squad, who could also serve as a long-term addition and a player they can build the team around in the future.

Tottenham are in as much need of a winger as their adversaries. In fact, Spurs have been linked with a move to add a winger longer than United or Arsenal, with Moussa Sissoko failing to add much value out wide. Riyad Mahrez has been touted as an option, but Neres could fit in well into a squad that resembles everything Neres is – explosive, youthful and ambitious.

The trio though, face competition in the form of Juventus, Inter and AC Milan, both of whom could stand an advantage in the fact that Brazilian youngsters do tend to prefer a move to Italy than the other big leagues. The player is valued at around €25 million – a value that should continue to rise given his level of performances.

Any club that intends to move for the player should do it as soon as possible, lest they risk seeing more and more clubs getting interested in the 20-year-old; even if they do not feel as threatened with the increasing valuation of the Brazilian Under-20 international.
