Tottenham have reportedly joined Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign Spanish forward Mikel Oyarzabal from Real Sociedad
According to a report by Italian website Calciomercato, Mikel Oyarzabal is attracting interest from top clubs across Europe. Tottenham, Juventus and Inter Milan are interested in the Real Sociedad winger, and are set to engage in a three-way tussle for the Spaniard.
Oyarzabal joined the Real Sociedad academy in 2011 as a 14-year-old, rapidly progressing through the ranks at the club before breaking into the first-team setup in 2015. All of 18 back then, the player has since made major strides within the first-team squad, and has now cemented his place in attack for the club.
This season, Oyarzabal has made a blistering start to the campaign, especially in La Liga, with six goals and an assist in eight outings. The youngster is also making rapid progress on the international level, and after playing a key role in Spain’s run to the final in the Under-21 European Championship, he has also since made his senior debut.
His performances are now attracting widespread interest from some prominent names in European football. Juventus and Inter Milan have been following Oyarzabal’s progress for a long time, but the Serie A giants have now been joined by Tottenham in the player’s pursuit.

At Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri has a number of explosive options on either side of attack, with the likes of Douglas Costa, Mario Mandzukic, Federico Bernardeschi and Juan Cuadrado going strong. So, the interest in Oyarzabal does come as a bit of a surprise.
Inter, too, have reliable options on either flank, with the explosiveness of Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva helping them mount a title challenge. Oyarzabal, though, is likely being viewed as a long-term solution in attack, with both the aforementioned players at the peak of their powers currently.
Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has just Son Heung-Min a reliable attacker who could provide width along with a pacy outlet up front. With Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko flattering to deceive thus far, the interest in Oyarzabal has some substance to it, with the North Londoners eyeing other additions as well.
The left-footed winger could help add another dimension to Spurs’ attack, making him an attractive target. As far as the player is concerned, Mauricio Pochettino’s formidable record of developing young players could turn his head and persuade him to make the step up to the Premier League heavyweights.
A move in the January transfer window, though, might not be possible, with the player key to Real Sociedad’s bid to qualify for Europe. It now remains to be seen if Tottenham indeed beat Juventus and Inter Milan in pursuit of Oyarzabal, whenever a move becomes possible.
