Transfer News: Liverpool reignite interest in Ajax superstar Hakim Ziyech

Liverpool have reportedly reignited interested in Ajax Amsterdam superstar Hakim Ziyech with Coutinho set to leave for Barcelona

According to Moroccan publication Lions de Atlas, Liverpool have reignited interest in AFC Ajax superstar Hakim Ziyech. The Reds are set to lose Coutinho to Barcelona and have decided to shift their focus to Ziyech again, with Klopp intent on replacing the Brazilian.

Hakim Ziyech is one of the prime stars of the Eredivisie. The player came to the fore at Heerenveen before moving to Twente and ultimately to Ajax, but not before establishing himself as one of the hottest prospects in the country. At Ajax, the player has continued his sublime rise to the top.

Last season alone, the player recorded a return of 12 goals and 20 assists in 46 appearances as Ajax ran riot in the league and the UEFA Europa League, thanks to performances from Ziyech and what is a core of impressive young prospects.

The player has already started off on the right foot this season, with an assist in Ajax’s UEFA Champions League Qualification matches. And it has Liverpool reignite their interest in the player, especially with reports that the Reds have finally agreed to let Coutinho leave for Barcelona.

Indeed, Liverpool have been looking at Christian Pulisic and others to fill Coutinho’s void. But, Ziyech could serve as a potent replacement for the Brazilian, especially with the player possessing a similarly explosive playing style filled with flair points.

The 24-year-old would also serve as a cheaper and more realistic alternative to other targets, by offering Ziyech with the promise of regular game-time and the allure of a much bigger platform to showcase his skills. Also, with the change in manager at Ajax – Peter Bosz has left for Dortmund – Ziyech could be eager to move.

A move to the Premier League could open the platform for bigger things in the future along with the opportunity of playing for a club as iconic as Liverpool. The Reds already have the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and the Moroccan could fit in nicely along with the other wing wizards.
