Transfer News: Manchester United beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City to land Max Broughton

Manchester United have reportedly beaten the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City to English wonderkid Max Broughton, a Bolton player.

The Sun are claiming that Manchester United have beaten a host of English rivals in the pursuit of Bolton wonderkid Max Broughton. The highly rated English prospect was being tailed by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City. However, the Red Devils seems to have moved fast to capture the youngster.

Max Broughton is one of the most highly-rated prospects in England, having emerged from the setup at local side Rossendale United, where he was spotted by the Bolton scouts, which resulted in the player being brought in for trials and subsequently being included in the academy setup.

Broughton has featured for the Under-18 side at Bolton and his performances have already begun to turn heads, especially the ones for the Three Lions at various age levels. The 16-year-old has attracted the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton for a while now.

And the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City subsequently joined the chase for the midfielder as well. Manchester United, though, have been on a recruitment drive at youth level with unreal vigour, having already signed several youngsters.

The likes of Aliou Traore, Ethan Galbraith, Arnau Puigmal and Di’Shon Bernard and others have already joined the Under-18 side and looks like Broughton is set to be the next one in. According to the report, the player is set for the move in a deal reported to be around £1 million.

The club owner Max Anderson is a former agent and has a healthy relationship with Manchester United, which has seen the Red Devils tip the race in their favour. Bolton manager Phil Parkinson stated that with the club now returning to the Championship, he had earmarked Broughton for some first-team action this season.

However, he also admitted that with the kind of interest his talent has generated, Bolton would not be able to keep a hold of the player. And it seems, the same has happened, with the player now set for Manchester United. It would be interesting to see though, as to how McKenna is able to fit so many midfielders into the starting eleven.

The Under-18 squad looks stacked for United and the fans would hope for a good run in the FA Youth Cup and perhaps Broughton could just be the next best English hope in the midfield.
