Barcelona are contemplating a move to break their club record to sign Ousmane Dembele for €90 million.

According to German media outlet Bild, Borussia Dortmund attacker Ousmane Dembele is on the radar of La Liga giants Barcelona, and the Catalan outfit are willing to shell out a staggering €90 million to secure his services.

The report states that Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko met with Barcelona’s Sporting Director Robert Fernandez over the weekend, and the two parties appear to have reached an agreement, and the player has been given the green signal to move to Camp Nou in the summer.

Current Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is understood to be a huge fan of the Dortmund talent, and is understood to be relishing the opportunity to work with him. He has reportedly told the club to make sure the transfer happens, and ensure Dembele is donning the Barca kit next season.

Despite only moving to the Signal Iduna Park a year ago, the 20-year-old has taken not only the Bundesliga, but also the entire continent by storm with his dazzling performances in his first season for Die Schwarzgelben,

He has already shown in the twelve months at the club as to why he is one of Europe’s forces to be reckoned with, and has rightly so found himself on the radar of a club of the calibre of Barcelona.

At 20, Dembele has already made his full international debut for France, and could seen be a regular for Les Bleus as their older generation is soon expected to make way for the up and coming fledgling players bidding their time quietly.

Domestically, the 20-year-old has bagged six goals and tallied 12 assists in 22 league starts for Dortmund. In a team full of quality attacking players, Dembele did his bit to stand out from the rest, and earned the backing of then manager Thomas Tuchel.

Versatility is a key aspect to his game, and he has showcased it unhesitatingly for the German club. His ability to play in all the three attacking positions behind the striker has already seen him earn the reputation of being one of the Bundesliga’s most fearsome marksmen.

He is now ready to take the step up and make a move what has been a dream to many a young footballer. While joining Barcelona could see many fret and crumble under the expectations, Dembele is expected to remain focused and make it big with the Catalan Giants.

A price tag of €90 million will forever be attached to his name, and the onus is now on him to justify his worth and silence the critics once and for all, and prove to the fans around the world that he is not a one season wonder, and is instead a superstar in the making.
