Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs and are scouring the possibility of bringing Wolves superstar Helder Costa to the Premier League.

According to Birmingham Mail, Arsenal and Chelsea are showing interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers superstar Helder Costa. The playmaker has become an insoluble part of the first-team setup in his maiden season with the Wolves and could be set to leave the club soon, with the aforementioned duo interested in the player.

Helder Costa is another product of the fabled SL Benfica academy setup which has produced superstars like Nelson Semedo, Victor Lindelof and others, all of whom are now being targeted by the best of the European outfits. The player has been linked with the duo earlier as well.

The 23-year-old arrived at Wolves on loan and impressed straight-away with his displays – so much so that he was bought permanently by the club in January, as per the stipulation of his loan deal. And he has been nothing short of a revelation.

The player was given the license to play a free role on the right wing and he responded in fantastic fashion, with a return of 10 goals and 8 assists in 35 Championship appearances. His ability to also put in a decent shift as a central attacking midfielder has caught the eye of the clubs as well.

Arsenal will need more firepower out wide, especially if Alexis Sanchez ends up leaving – a prospect that looks more likely than not. Also, if Arsene Wenger intends to stick to the 3-4-2-1 formation, Helder Costa can take up Alexis Sanchez’s place with ease.

Chelsea, on the other hand, could look to add Helder Costa as more of a competition for Pedro, with Willian regularly linked to a reunion at Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho. The 23-year-old may also be retrained to play in the right-wing back position whenever needed.

Helder Costa was earlier linked to Liverpool as well, who may re-enter the race if their other pursuits go awry. The player could be set for a bump up to the Premier League, especially with reports that his agent Jorge Mendes is lining up a £20 million move for him to the top flight of English football.

The aforementioned figure would provide Wolves with a decent profit on their investment and would also ensure higher quality infrastructure, competition and stage for the player to showcase their talent. The Portuguese Under-21 international could prefer a move to Arsenal ahead of Chelsea, purely down to the temptation of regular football.

It would be interesting to see how Helder will adapt to the rigours of English Premier League. However, he is unlikely to be a part of the first-team setup at the Molineux past the summer transfer window.
