Chelsea set to make Antonio Conte their highest paid manager, hand him summer transfer war chest

Chelsea are reportedly set to make manager Antonio Conte the highest paid manager in their history

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Antonio Conte is poised to become the highest ever paid manager in Chelsea history, with Roman Abramovich all set to bankroll a £200 million transfer war chest in the summer for the Italian manager.

Conte has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Stamford Bridge this season, having taken over a side that had relinquished its Premier League title in disastrous fashion in 2015/16. However, just nine months after assuming charge of his first match for the Blues, he has overseen a spectacular title triumph.

From embarking on the worst Premier League title defence in history to winning it in style, and how, a lot has changed for Chelsea since Conte was appointed at the helm, as they have largely looked imperious over the course of the season under their new manager.

The failures of last season seem like a bad dream now, and the Chelsea players and fans alike are now hoping for an ever brighter future than the glorious present they find themselves in currently. However, Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to put a spanner in their works by hoping to poach Conte in the summer.

Chelsea, though, are understandably unwilling to let the Italian tactician leave just one season into his project at Stamford Bridge. Speculations had, thus, been rife that they were prepared to offer Conte a bumper new deal in the summer to keep him at Stamford Bridge for the longer term.

As it turns out, the aforementioned bumper new deal will see him become the highest ever paid manager in Chelsea history, as he is set to earn more than the £7.5 million-a-year that Jose Mourinho earned during his previous spell at the West London club.

In addition to making him the club’s highest ever paid manager, Roman Abramovich is also set to hand Conte £200 million as the summer transfer kitty to make improvements to his squad.

It is believed that the Chelsea boss is eyeing reinforcements across the park and the aforementioned transfer war chest will definitely enable him to get the cream of the crop in all his priority positions.

It now remains to be seen if Conte puts pen to paper on the new deal soon, as an exciting new era is set to be heralded at Stamford Bridge under the Italian manager. For now though, Conte and his men have their attentions firmly focused at winning the double in his first season in charge at Chelsea.
