Barcelona, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing Davinson Sanchez this summer, according to reports
According to Mundo Deportivo, Ajax have already “made it known” to Barcelona that they are willing to do business for 20-year-old centre back Davinson Sanchez this summer, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also interested in signing the Colombian international.
They state that Sanchez himself is open to a move at the end of the season but will only sit down and think about his future after the UEFA Europa League final, with the Dutch side almost certain to progress after beating Lyon 4-1 in the first leg.
Barcelona attempted to sign Sanchez last year before the centre back opted to sign for Ajax, signing a five-year deal with the club after joining the Dutch side for a fee of just €5 million. Despite the fact that he has only just signed for Peter Bosz’s side, Mundo Deportivo claim that this will not deter potential suitors.
A technically sound, ball-playing defender who is renowned for his concentration, Sanchez has become a key player in Ajax’s side this season, making 31 appearances and picking up 5 goals and 2 assists on the way – impressive numbers for a centre back.
He has also been registering an average of 0.21 blocks, 1.05 successful tackles, 2.13 aerial duels won, 2.02 interceptions and an impressive 5.06 clearances per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eridivisie per 90 minutes, according to Squawka.
Mundo Deportivo claim that Ajax would be willing to do business with interested parties and even quote a figure of €25 million as a sufficient fee for the 20-year old, although they do say that the interest of Chelsea and Bayern Munich could lead to a bidding war that will increase the asking price.
They state that the Blues and the Bavarian giants would be willing to go up to €40 million to sign the Colombian international, while also stating that he is attracting interest from other unspecified English clubs.
Chelsea are on the lookout for centre backs as they will need to strengthen their options at the back to contend with the added pressures of the UEFA Champions League next season, especially since club legend John Terry announced his exit from the side at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich are also in need of reinforcements at centre back, with Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez their only three recognised senior centre backs. The Germans have also been signing some of the best young talent around of late so Sanchez fits the profile.
However, given Barcelona’s previous interest in the youngster combined with the fact that the Catalans have a connection with Ajax through former player Marc Overmars, the Blaugranes could be favourites to sign the youngster.
