Transfer News: Manchester City fend off Arsenal, Chelsea interest in Jadon Sancho

Manchester City are reportedly set to fend off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in Jadon Sancho and are set to offer the player an improved deal.

Tribal Football are reporting that Manchester City are looking to secure the future of Jadon Sancho at Etihad. The youngster has been courted by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham of late. And it seems the interest has driven the Citizens into action, who are set to offer the player a lucrative new deal in excess of £30,000 per-week.

Manchester Evening News have also reported on the matter at hand, stating that the interest from the Premier League trio cast doubts on Sancho’s future at Etihad. But, Manchester City promoted the youngster to train with the first-team under Pep Guardiola, which the Citizens hope will aid in Sancho opting to stay with the club.

Along with that, the Citizens are deep in negotiations with the player and are ready to offer him an improved deal as part of a new three-year deal. As per M.E.N., the Citizens are pleased with the development in the course of the negotiation and are confident of fending off interest from the suitors to keep the player at Etihad.

Jadon Sancho is widely seen as one of the brightest prospects in England right now, having joined City from Watford in 2015. The player has since been remarkable at the youth level for the Citizens and has been promoted to be a part of the Under-23 squad.

The 17-year-old has made 17 appearances for City across various platforms, with a return of 7 goals and 2 assists to his name; great return for a winger.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for prodigious young talents, having been linked to the likes of Kieran Tierney and Terell Pennant among others. The Gunners have a rich pool of talent right now, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and others at the club and Sancho has also been linked with the Gunners as a potential addition.

Chelsea have a model of bringing young talents to the club and developing them. But, Conte is also looking for energetic wingers to add to the squad for the next campaign and Jadon Sancho could well be given a meatier role in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham have a young impressive core and Pochettino has shown he is not afraid to give youngsters a chance, if he feels the player has adequate quality to be a part of the first-team setup. The North Londoners could very well be the best destination for Sancho, in terms of development and first-team opportunities.

Also, Moussa Sissoko is likely to leave the club in the summer and the void could be filled up by Jadon Sancho, if he manages to impress Pochettino.

City, however, have worked incredibly hard towards their youth setup to build it into one of the world’s leading producers of great talent, with the long-term view of creating players capable of being a part of the first-team setup at Etihad.

And while Iheanacho has already made the cut, Sancho, along with Brahim Diaz are expected to follow suit soon and become the flag-bearers of City’s vision.

Manchester City would be glad to be working towards an agreement with the player and it looks like Sancho could well be extending his stay at the Etihad. Sancho definitely looks like one for the future. But he may soon become the present at Etihad as well.
