Atletico Madrid have registered an interest in signing Italian starlet Domenico Berardi, as per reports.
Spanish journal Mundo Deportivo have reported that Atletico Madrid have renewed their interest in Domenico Berardi, and have joined the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign the highly rated Sassuolo forward.
Berardi is one of the most promising youngsters to emerge out of Italy in recent seasons and his stock continues to rise by the week. He is now one of Sassuolo’s key stars, having progressed through the ranks at the Serie A club.
The current campaign was hindered by a knee injury that saw Berardi miss several months of action, but he has still notched up impressive numbers, scoring seven goals and four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old is emerging as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and clubs are starting to line up for his signature. Chelsea and Juventus have been heavily linked with a move for Berardi, and look likely to make an offer when the transfer window opens in June.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reported to be eyeing attacking reinforcements in the summer. With just Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro as his recognised options for two positions, attack could be priority and Berardi could represent a long-term option for the Italian tactician.
Meanwhile, Juventus are reported to be eyeing wingers. Berardi is one of the players Massimiliano Allegri is showing an eagerness to sign despite being snubbed by the player last summer. The youngster will certainly be an upgrade on Juan Cuadrado in attack and can immediately establish himself at the Juventus Stadium.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham have also had Berardi scouted in a recent Serie A game between AC Milan and Sassuolo, and are said to be keen on a summer move for the 22-year-old.
Inter Milan are also showing some serious interest in Berardi, with sporting director Piero Ausilio securing the affirmative to launch an offensive for the player. The reports have also claimed that Berardi is keen to move to San Siro himself, handing the Nerazzurri the advantage.
Atletico Madrid have now entered the race to sign Berardi, renewing their interest in a player they tried signing last summer. The report states that Atletico have scouted the Italian once again, and could be set to launch another move for him come June.
Yannick Carrasco’s future with Los Rojiblancos is currently mired in uncertainty, and if the Belgian moves away from the Spanish capital in the summer, a position could be up for grabs for Berardi.
Sassuolo have placed a €40 million valuation on Berardi’s head, a figure that does not pose a problem for any of his suitors. However, with Berardi believed to be keen on a move to San Siro, it remains to be seen if the other clubs circling him can turn his head with a better offer.
