Chelsea and Manchester City have both tabled €60 million offers for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, according to reports
According to French outlet Telefoot, Chelsea and Manchester City have made offers between €50 million and €60 million to land the Juventus midfielder who is currently in the midst of his second season of his two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich.
Bayern have an option to buy Coman from the Italian side for a fee of €20 million according to Telefoot, something they state that Bayern are definitely keen on exercising. However, it appears Coman is not so sure about his future.
The French international had a breakout season under Pep Guardiola in 2015-16 but has found it hard to establish himself under new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Coman has managed only 5 starts in the league this season and has not started a single UEFA Champions League match.
They claim that the 20-year old has recognised how he might struggle to get in the side and is now open to a move to the English Premier League as he is aware of the interest from several clubs in England.
Telefoot also state that Bayern Munich are in the midst of finalising a deal for Coman but that Chelsea and City are trying to scupper the deal by making their own bids, far above what Bayern Munich plan on paying for Coman.
Manchester City were reportedly keeping tabs on the winger all the way back in October with Pep Guardiola – who brought Coman to Bayern Munich in the first place – said to be keen on a reunion with the player.
Coman himself enjoyed his best season under the Spanish manager and Telefoot claim he is a fan of Guardiola’s management and playing style and that the two are regularly in touch, something that will give Man City an advantage in negotiations.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has also had a hand in Coman’s career, having been the man who brought the Frenchman to Juventus back in 2014. Telefoot claim that Conte is a huge admirer of Coman, particularly his pace and dribbling ability.
Chelsea have been linked with several wingers over the last few months as they look to add to their squad for the upcoming season – where they will have the added pressures of the UEFA Champions League to contend with – and Coman fits the profile of young, pacy, technically gifted players that Antonio Conte is a fan of.
It appears there could be a huge battle in order to land a player who is considered one of the most promising young players in the world, and all three clubs will be able to compete with each other financially which should make things interesting.
