Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Domenico Berardi, and are in talks with the Sassuolo forward, as per reports.
According to a report by Italian publication Calciomercato, Inter Milan have opened talks with Domenico Berardi over a possible move in the summer. The Sassuolo forward is also being targetted by the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Berardi has emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in Europe in recent seasons, and has been rated as the future of Italian football by many. The youngster rapidly rose through the ranks at Sassuolo before making his senior debut at the age of 18 in 2012.
In a little under five years since then, Berardi boasts some impressive numbers, having bagged 56 goals and 36 assists in 148 appearances for the Neroverdi. And although 2016/17 has been a stop-start campaign for the 22-year-old, he has still impressively notched up 7 goals and 4 assists in 15 games.
Berardi is becoming a highly sought after talent. Clubs from across Europe are starting to line up for his signature, prominent among which are Chelsea and Juventus.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is eager to make reinforcements in various departments in the summer, with the attack a priority. The Italian tactician is believed to be a long-time admirer of Berardi’s talents and he is thus being eyed as a long-term solution in attack, where he would compete with Willian and Pedro for a place on the right wing.
Meanwhile, Juventus are back in the market for Berardi after being snubbed by the player last summer. And the Serie A champions are targetting the 22-year-old as an upgrade on Juan Cuadrado for a place in attack alongside mainstays Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.
The two European heavyweights aren’t the only two clubs circling Berardi, though, with Arsenal and Tottenham having the youngster scouted in a Serie A game against AC Milan last month. And now, Inter Milan have also joined the race to sign the highly rated Italian.
The Nerazzurri are looking to recruit a mix of Italian and foreign players in the summer as part of a summer squad overhaul, with the Suning Group aiming to take the club back to the heights of Italian and European football.
The report states that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has received the go ahead from the club to “go on the offensive” for Berardi. It is also believed that Berardi himself is keen to move to San Siro, meaning a summer move to Inter could well be in the offing.
A value of €40 million has been placed on Berardi’s head and Inter are ready to enter a bidding war for him, if need be. Juventus are not so keen on that eventuality, but the same can’t be said about Chelsea and other suitors of the player and it will be interesting to see where Berardi heads off to in the summer.
