Transfer News: Arsenal eye swoop for teenage Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho

Arsenal are reportedly interested in bringing teenage Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho back to London, with the player an academy graduate from Watford.

The Sun have reported that Arsenal are looking to step up their interest in Manchester City teenager Jadon Sancho. The exciting winger, who progressed from the academy at Watford, could be set for a move back to London, with the Gunners taking a keen interest in the youngster.

Jadon Sancho is a young and exciting talent, who was highly rated at Watford before moving to Manchester City in the summer of 2016. At the age of 16, the winger has already appeared for the Under-21s in the Premier League 2 for the Citizens, which is impressive, considering the array of talent present in the Reserves side at Etihad.

The 16-year-old has recorded impressive numbers this season, with 5 goals and 2 assists in 14 appearances in all competitions across the Under-18 and Reserves level, which includes a return of 2 goals and an assist in 4 Premier League 2 outings.

The player is highly regarded within the City setup and is touted as a future first-teamer at Etihad. But, Arsenal have now started showing interest in the 16-year-old.

Arsenal top scout Steve Rowley has been monitoring Sancho for quite a while, which has raised concerns within the City setup as to the potential of the player being prized away by the Gunners, who can offer Sancho the prospect of returning to London.

Sancho has been more prolific at the international level, with 6 goals in 7 games for the England Under-16 squad while being equally impressive with a return of 5 goals in 6 games for the Three Lions’ Under-17 side as well.

Arsenal are always on the lookout for impressive youngsters who have the potential of making the first-team grade soon, with Wenger keeping an eye on prodigies like Youri Tielemans and Issa Diop recently. And it looks like Sancho is the latest to join the list.

The player is contracted to Manchester City till 2020, which does give the Citizens the command in case Arsenal do come swooping in for the player. But, the player might be swayed by the prospect of returning to London, which may force City’s hand to an extent.

The report states that the transfer tussle is getting nasty and it would be interesting to see how it pans out in the future.
