Transfer Rumour: Bayern Munich set to battle Arsenal and Liverpool for Dominic Solanke

Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Dominic Solanke and are set to rival Arsenal and Liverpool for the wantaway Chelsea striker, as per reports.

According to a report from Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are the latest club to register an interest in Dominic Solanke. The Bavarian giants now look set to rival Arsenal and Liverpool to secure the services of the Chelsea contract renegade.

What looked like a promising Chelsea career just waiting to happen one day has come to nothing as Dominic Solanke is all but out the exit door at Stamford Bridge. The 19-year-old Englishman progressed through the ranks at Chelsea, impressing for club and country at various youth levels to be regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the world.

In his developing years, Solanke was one of the most prolific young strikers in Europe with loads of technical abilities, with the Chelsea youth teams making great impressions in the country as well as in Europe. Needless to say, he was being touted for big things, but his progression into the first team has seen his growth come to a halt.

He was sent on loan to Vitesse Arnhem last season, where he only managed to score seven goals in 26 appearances in all competitions. And it has been worse this season, with the teenager playing just five matches in Premier League 2 so far, and struggling to get game time ahead of Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi.

Chelsea, though, had been interested in tying down Solanke to a new deal with the youngster very much in Antonio Conte’s plans for the future. However, contract talks stalled towards the end of 2016, with the Blues unwilling to meet his demands of a £50,000-a-week deal.

With talks reaching an impasse, Chelsea manager Conte admitted that Solanke would leave the West London club at the end of the season when his contract runs out. That news sparked interest in the English striker, with Liverpool and Arsenal both linked with Solanke.

Liverpool are reported to be in the market for a striker in the summer. With Daniel Sturrdige being out of favour with Jurgen Klopp and Danny Ings sidelined with a long-term injury, the Liverpool boss has just Divock Origi as an out and out senior striker in the squad, with Roberto Firmino playing as the false nine.

Arsenal were also reported to be joining the race for Solanke this week, with the North London club also interested in recruiting a striker. That is because Alexis Sanchez is being linked with a move away from Arsenal, Olivier Giroud is struggling to get starts and Danny Welbeck is still finding his feet after coming back from a knee injury.

However, both Liverpool and Arsenal are set to face competition from Bayern Munich for Solanke’s signature. And while the Bundesliga heavyweights are unlikely to agree to his wage demands, they could add several incentives in his contract to lure him to the Allianz Arena.

Another important point to note is that compensation that Chelsea will receive whenever a club signs him. Liverpool and Arsenal will have to pay £8 million in compensation, while Bayern will only have to shell out £300,000, which is the initial compensation for foreign clubs.

Solanke is eager to get a run in the first team at a top club, and he will surely be weighing his options with three of the biggest clubs in Europe interested in signing him. It will be interesting to see which option the teenager goes with now.
