Liverpool are set to launch a £26.5 million bid to bring AS Roma star Leandro Paredes, who appears to have been made available, over to Anfield.

The Sun have claimed that Liverpool are desperate to add to their current roster at Anfield and they have marked Leandro Paredes as a potential addition. The Reds are willing to shelve out the cash for Leandro Paredes after AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti hinted at the player’s availability.

Born in San Justo, Argentina, Leandro Daniel Paredes was always tipped to be a future superstar. The player showed his brilliance at Boca Juniors enough for the European clubs to come sniffing and AS Roma secured the player’s signature in the summer of 2014 amidst tough competition.

The 22-year-old, though, was immediately loaned back to Boca Juniors for a season while spending the next season at fellow Serie A club Empoli, where he proved his mettle as a holding midfielder capable of handling the rigours of regular football at a top league like Series A.

This season, the player has been a central figure in Luciano Spalletti’s first-team plans at AS Roma, with 23 appearances in all competitions. But, recently, Spalletti has hinted that the club might attempt to cash in on the 22-year-old in order to make room and generate funds for Franck Kessie, who looks set to join AS Roma in the summer.

Klopp is desperate to add to his wavering Liverpool squad, one which, without Sadio Mane, looks much like a toothless tiger. The appetite from the early season is still present but the clinical nature is slowly starting to evade the Reds.

And the German manager’s rotation in the cups, that led to Liverpool’s exit from both the EFL Cup and FA Cup, has highlighted the lack of depth in the squad, something which needs addressing.

Klopp is eyeing a £26.5 million bid to land Paredes, which includes £4 million in add-ons with £22.5 million upfront. Liverpool, though, are not the only Premier League club to be linked with the defensive midfielder, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham also being linked.

But, Liverpool will look to steal a march on the others with an instant bid and we could soon be seeing Paredes in a Red shirt, albeit of a different club in a different league.
