Chelsea manager Antonio Conte injures himself in training

Chelsea’s fiery Italian manager Antonio Conte recently exerted himself to the point of injury during a training session with the team.

The Daily Mail have reported that Conte has picked up a calf injury while training over the Christmas period. The report states that the 47-year-old pulled up with a calf problem while participating in a running drill with the players, but adds that the injury isn’t serious.

A manager getting injured while training with players is something that is unheard of, but it seems like Conte is in the Premier League to break down the walls of expectation.

The former Juventus manager is a blur of action and gesticulation on the sidelines during Chelsea games, and his difficult training regime has been hailed by many of his players as the most exhausting they’ve ever been through.

The fact that Chelsea aren’t competing in European competition this season also allows for Conte to ride hard on his players, and his training regime is definitely paying rich dividends.

Chelsea are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table, six points ahead of second placed Liverpool. The Blues also have the best defence in the league, conceding only 11 goals in 18 games.

The big resurgence came for Chelsea after a bitter defeat at the hands of Arsenal back in late September. Conte reacted to the 3-0 defeat by implementing his famed 3 man defensive system at Chelsea, and the Blues haven’t looked back since.

Chelsea have been on a 12 game winning streak since then, conceding only 2 goals in the process. The arrival of Antonio Conte has truly worked wonders at Stamford Bridge, and this recent bit of news illustrates just how the Italian manages to pull it off.

Conte has already won accolades with Juventus and the Italy national team. He was lacking many star players as Italy manager, but at Chelsea, has his pick of some of the most talented players in the world. It looks like the fiery 47-year-old may just make the Premier League title his own in his very first season in England.
