Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic, who is currently out on loan at AC Milan, could be set join the Rossoneri on a permanent basis, as per reports

According to the London Evening Standard, AC Milan are showing interest in securing the services of Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic on a permanent basis. The player, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, has impressed the hierarchy at the club, with the Rossoneri now seeking to make the deal permanent in the near future.

Mario Pasalic is a 21-year-old Croatian International who arrived at Chelsea from local club Hajduk Split as a very highly-rated teenager. But the player has failed to capture the imagination at Stamford Bridge, failing to make a single senior appearance for the Blues.

In return, the 21-year-old spent seasons out on loan to clubs like Elche, AS Monaco and now AC Milan. However, Pasalic seems to have also reaped dividends of Rossoneri manager Vincenzo Montella’s preference to play youth, and has established himself in the first-team setup at San Siro.

The midfielder has started the last four Serie A games for AC Milan, who look to be on an upward trend this season after a series of disappointing campaigns. Pasalic has looked assured and unfazed in the midfield racking 7 Serie A appearances for the club while also opening his account for his temporary employers.

And AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has hinted at a possibility of securing the player, who’s Chelsea contract has less than two years remaining, on a permanent basis while also hailing the player’s abilities.

Galliani said,“In Croatia Pasalic is considered to be on the same level as Luka Modric, who is one of the best midfielders in the world. We had this opportunity, we do have the option to buy and we’ll see what to do next summer.”

The 21-year-old arrived at Chelsea for a meager transfer fee of around €2.5m, but it is unlikely that the Blues would be willing to let go of the midfielder for the same amount. Although, the player’s current situation combined with his current deal having less than two years remaining, means that the Blues are unlikely to ask for an extraordinary fee.

AC Milan and Vincenzo Montella could be the best platform for Mario Pasalic to re-establish himself as one of the most highly-touted midfielders in Europe.
