Chelsea and Bayern Munich are among several other top clubs that are reportedly interested in Tottenham star Eric Dier.

According to The Times, (h/t ESPN), Chelsea and Bayern Munich are showing interest in Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier. The 22-year-old, who was a revelation since moving to Tottenham from Portuguese outfit Sporting CP.

Eric Dier arrived at Tottenham in 2014 for a fee around £4m after coming through the ranks at Sporting, and impressing with his first-team appearances for the Portuguese Lions. The player was an instant hit at White Hart Lane both in the squad and with the fans. as he locked down a permanent place in the starting eleven with consistently impressive performances.

Dier also made his international debut for England on the back of his impressive form for Tottenham. The 22-year-old, though, seems to have lost his automatic place in the starting eleven this season, with Mauricio Pochettino preferring summer signing Vincent Wanyama and Moussa Dembele over him in midfield, while the central defensive pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have been solid at the back.

Dier, who is equally adept at playing as a centre-back, is reportedly unhappy with the lack of game time in the Premier League this season, having played 992 minutes out of a possible 1350.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is looking for quality additions to the midfield and Eric Dier may serve as a long-term, versatile  addition to the squad.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, have already had an approach rejected for Eric Dier last summer and are thought to be retaining interest in the 22-year-old. The two clubs have been alerted by the possibility of the player being open to a move in the near future.

However Spurs may not be too worried about the prospect of losing one of their most prized young assets. Eric Dier only recently signed a contract extension that binds him to Tottenham till 2021 and Spurs would rather reinstate Eric Dier back into the lineup than lose the player, potentially to a rival in the form of Chelsea.

Even if Tottenham do agree to negotiate a deal, Eric Dier’s new contract means that the player is set to command a massive transfer fees. But, the prospect of shelving out major cash is unlikely to perturb either Bayern or Chelsea.
