Transfer rumour: Manchester City enter race for Chelsea FC and Real Madrid target Alexander Isak

Premier League giants Manchester City are said to be closely monitoring the progress of the highly-rated striker, who has been on the radar of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

AIK’s teenage sensation Alexander Isak has attracted the attention of a host of European elites this season with his goal-scoring exploits for the Swedish club. The 17-year-old has scored an impressive 13 goals in 29 appearance this campaign, earning him the label of ‘the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been reported to be among the list of admirers of the Swedish wonderkid. ESPN recently claimed Chelsea have moved ahead of all competitors and are the favourites to sign the much coveted forward.

English newspaper the Daily Mail have revealed Manchester City have also jumped into the fray for the teenage attacker. The report suggests that the Sky Blues are keeping close tabs on Alexander Isak as they continue to build for a new era under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City want to get their hands on Europe’s most promising talents, and as such, Alexander Isak sits high on their wishlist, with Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg and Ipswich Town’s Ben Knight also said to be among their targets.

Alexander Isak was first identified by defending Premier League champions Leicester City last season, with the club inviting the player to train with them. Sunderland and Stoke had also expressed interest in the player at the time.

With interest from top European clubs, a move away from Sweden does look likely for Isak. The Swedish football season is set to end soon, and there is bound to be more speculation regarding the talented striker’s future in the January transfer window. AIK are said to be willing to consider offers in the region of €20 million, but it remains to be seen who eventually wins the tug-of-war for the Swedish forward.
