Several clubs are said to be monitoring Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin with a view to a January transfer, as the Frenchman continues to remain out of favour at Old Trafford.

Morgan Schneiderlin made a big money move to Manchester United in the summer of 2015, signing from Southampton for £25 million. While he did make 39 appearances under Louis van Gaal last season, he failed to make much impact after struggling to get regular minutes under his belt.

The woes have continued for the French midfielder this season too, as he has managed to play only seven times for Jose Mourinho’s side. Additionally, to the bewilderment of many United supporters around the world, Schneiderlin has seen just six minutes of Premier League action for the Red Devils. According to several news reports, Schneiderlin could be on his way out of Old Trafford in January with a few clubs keeping a tab on his situation.

Warren Haughton for The Sun has reported that AC Milan, who are keen to add a midfielder to their ranks, are eyeing a January move for Schneiderlin. He wrote: “According to reports in Italy, Milan are ready to find out just how much United want Schneiderlin with a January move for the midfielder who is desperate for more game time.”

But the Milanese outfit isn’t the only club monitoring Schneiderlin’s travails in Manchester, with Crystal Palace also said to be interested in signing the midfielder. Alan Pardew, under whom Schneiderlin first flourished at Southampton, is said to be keen on a reunion with his former charge. As reported by Richard Gibson of the Mirror, Palace could be set to test the resolve of Manchester United with an “ambitious January bid” for Schneiderlin.

Meanwhile, another one of Schneiderlin’s former managers, Mauricio Pochettino, is interested in signing the defensive midfielder, as pointed out in the same report by Gibson. Tottenham’s bid for Schneiderlin was thwarted by Manchester United in the summer, but Pochettino is set to renew interest in his former player in the winter transfer window.

As reported last week, Jose Mourinho has identified eight players to axe from his squad over the next two transfer windows. Schneiderlin is said to be featuring in the list and he could be on his way out of Manchester United as early as January if the Old Trafford outfit receive the right price.
