Juventus are reportedly planning a sensational swoop for Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard next summer.
According to transfermarketweb.com, Juventus are planning to raid Chelsea for their Belgian superstar Eden Hazard. Hazard has been earmarked by the Serie A champions as a priority signing next summer.
The Belgian arrived in the English Premier League as a potential superstar and chose Chelsea over Manchester United and Manchester City, reportedly swayed by the Blues’ Champions League triumph. He made an instant impact at the club, ending his debut Premier League campaign with 9 goals and 11 assists to his name.
Hazard has since gone on to establish himself as the main star of the Chelsea lineup while also becoming one of the top attacking players in European football. The Belgian, though, suffered a rare dip in form last season as he recorded the worst season of his career to date, finishing with just 4 goals and 3 assists in his 31 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea themselves recorded their worst league season in over a decade as they finished 10th in the table and were unable to secure European football, which is an absolute necessity for a player possessing Hazard’s calibre.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the London outfit throughout the summer transfer window with Real Madrid rumoured to be interested in the Belgian international, but the player decided to stay put at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard seems to be slowly rediscovering his lost form under Italian manager Antonio Conte, recording 2 goals in only 7 appearances in the Premier League. Even though Chelsea started the season brightly, successive defeats to rivals Liverpool and Arsenal have seen the early momentum slip away from Conte’s men.
The Blues lie seventh on the table, five points behind leaders Manchester City, and it is speculated that Hazard is unlikely to remain at the club if there is to be a repeat of last season.
If Chelsea fail to secure European football for next season, the Belgian might be tempted to move to one of Europe’s elite clubs and Juventus are looking to take advantage of the fact. The Old Lady would make a strong case with their Serie A dominance and convincing performances in the Champions League, and could make an attempt to bring the Belgian to Turin to add to their existing attacking options.
Chelsea are unlikely to be willing to sell Hazard next summer, but could find themselves in a situation where they might have to consider that option if the Belgian has made his mind up about leaving Stamford Bridge.
