The Brazilian centre-back took to social media to deny recent reports of him making disrespectful comments toward his former club and the French League.

In one of the most shocking deadline day transfers in recent times, the 29-year-old was brought back to Chelsea in a reported £34 million deal after spending 2 years with the Ligue 1 giants.  The return of the cult hero back to the Bridge was met with mixed reactions from Chelsea fans and neutrals alike as Chelsea had sold him for a huge sum in 2014, only to buy him back for nearly a three-quarters of the amount.

According to ESPN, social media account Sun Gossip reported that Luiz had said after his move that he “wasted two years” in France and also that “it is like playing FIFA on beginner level.” Luiz took to social media platform Facebook, where in a long post regarding the matter, he said  “The post made on 08.30.2016 hosted by the Twitter account “@SunGossip” and facebook page account “@oddsbibletips” and the post made on 09.01.2016 hosted by the Instagram account “@visubal” contain untrue statements!”

He went on to say that these contained ‘malicious falsehood’ and ‘disrespectful words’ aimed toward the Ligue 1 and that he never spoke to those accounts, insisting he never gave an interview where he could have said this. He said that he had a tremendous amount of respect for the French Federation of Football, the football teams, players and it’s supporters. He went on to say that he wasn’t against freedom of speech, saying “I am not against freedom of speech and I recognise the value of fair publication. But be aware about the posts these social medias accounts been doing!”
