The veteran England defender has been one of the mainstays of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea sides and recently lauded the new Manchester United manager, insisting he will receive a warm welcome at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea captain John Terry has always been a Mourinho man through and through. After signing a one-year contract extension at the club, Terry will now face the prospect of lining up against his former manager as Mourinho takes charge of Manchester United.

However, Terry has backed the Special One recently, stating that he wished him well in his future endeavours even if that might come at a cost for the Blues.

“It’s fantastic news for Manchester United,” said Terry, according to SkySports.

“I’m sure that Manchester United’s fans and players will be delighted with that because, as I’ve said many times before, he’s the best manager I’ve worked under. It was unfortunate the way it ended at Chelsea this year but I wish him well because he’s also a great man. He’ll be great for Manchester United, I’m sure. “
“It’ll feel very different. I’ve come up against Jose for various teams before so it will be interesting. He’ll get a great reception when he comesback to Stamford Bridge, for sure.”

Chelsea prepare to face their most successful manager in the Premier League

Struggling Chelsea part with manager Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho was the man who gave Chelsea their first Premier League title in 50 years, after one of the most glorious managerial debuts in history in 2004-05. Fresh off winning the Champions League with Porto, the Portuguese mastermind guided the Blues to a record-breaking title triumph, with his side registering the highest points tally in Premier League history.

In total, Mourinho has led them to three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, three League Cups and a Community Shield triumph. Despite all these achievements, the Special One was sacked not once, but twice by Blues owner Roman Abramovich. Much to the dismay of the fans, he has now chosen to move on to one of their direct rivals and sentiments may be sharply divided when he eventually returns to Stamford Bridge and takes his place in the away dug-out.
