Eto’o labels Conte ‘one of the best’ and implores Italy manager to bring glory days back to Chelsea FC

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o labelled newly appointed Blues boss Antonio Conte as one of the best managers in world football and also made the Italian a simple request.

After Jose Mourinho led the club to the bottom half of the table in December, their worst standing in the Roman Abramovich era, Chelsea quickly parted ways with the ‘Special One’ and appointed Guus Hiddink as their interim manager. Subsequently, amid much speculation in the media, the Blues recently confirmed the appointment of current Italy coach Antonio Conte as their next full time manager.

Conte will take over at Stamford Bridge at the end of Euro 2016 and the Italian has already got an admirer in former Blues forward Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o, who played under Jose Mourinho and scored nine goals in his only season at Chelsea, has expressed his love for the London based club and asked Conte to revive the Blues.

“A great manager like Conte doesn’t need my advice,” Eto’o is quoted as saying by Goal UK. “He showed he is one of the best in world football. He has to continue like this. He has won a lot and Chelsea will allow him to work.

“Conte, just make my Chelsea win again!”

What to expect from Conte?

Chelsea appoint Antonio Conte as new managerAbove everything else, Conte is known to be a hard task-master. He needs discipline in his teams and players not willing to work hard in both attack and defence have often been axed by the Italian.

With Chelsea facing a major crisis this season, key changes are expected to take place this summer at SW6. The Italian is known to be a clever tactician and it will be interesting to see how Chelsea line up under him. However, one thing is for certain: the Blues will gradually learn to keep their team shape intact during games, something they have conspicuously failed to do this season.
