Transfer News – Real Madrid Exercise Buy-Back Option To Bring Alvaro Morata To Club

In an official statement issued by Real Madrid, it has been confirmed that Arsenal and Chelsea target Alvaro Morata will return to his former club after the Los Blancos exercised a buy-back clause included in the deal that sealed his move to Juventus in the first place.

Alvaro Morata looks set to return to his boyhood club Real Madrid after the Los Blancos confirmed through an official statement that they had chosen to exercise their buy-back option to bring the striker back to the Spanish capital.

The Spaniard has been in good nick for the national side in the on-going European Championships which seems to have intensified the interest towards the striker. Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea are among those strongly linked with a move for Morata who looks primed for a move away from Turin this summer. He enjoyed an impressive campaign with Juventus where he netted 12 goals and set-up 12 others in 47 appearances across all competitions.

It may not be the sort of return expected off a striker, flocked by many big names in the transfer window, but the 22-year-old has seemingly done enough to mandate the interest he has received through the course of this transfer window so far.

Is Morata going to stay at Real Madrid?

The move in hindsight indicates the desire of the Champions’ League winners to cash in on the interest shown towards Morata in the market, at the moment. However, the past week has had reports that state that Real Madrid would like to keep the 22-year-old at the Spanish capital as an understudy to Karim Benzema instead of selling him to a third party.

Morata has expressed his desire to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and fight his way up to the first-team. However, with a galaxy of stars already at the club, it is unlikely he would be granted that wish. Moreover, Morata a far improved player than he was when Real sold him, has to think over whether he’d want to spend an important period in his career on the bench for Zinedine Zidane’s side when first team opportunities at big clubs are available on offer for him.
