Ruben Amorim set to join AC Milan

Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is all set to take charge at AC Milan ahead of next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Ruben Amorim to become their new manager, with a deal set to run until 2028 including a one-year extension option. The former Manchester United boss has accepted all conditions put forward by the Serie A outfit and is expected to sign the contract this week.

At 41, Amorim has built a strong reputation, highlighted by his success at Sporting CP. His disappointing spell at Manchester United contrasts with his achievements at the Portuguese club. His stint ended mid-season after poor results.

However, club chief Omar Berrada praised Amorim post-departure for the important changes he brought behind the scenes. People at the club believe his work helped Michael Carrick have an impressive start to his stint as their manager.

AC Milan to appoint Amorim as their new boss

Amorim has been extensively linked with a move back to Portugal ever since his departure from United at the start of the year. However, Amorim rejected the idea of returning to his homeland, instead seeking a challenge at the highest level. The AC Milan job is precisely the kind of test that excites him.

The Italian giants sacked Massimiliano Allegri after a disappointing campaign, where they failed to secure Champions League football. Post his departure, the plan was clear: they wanted to bring in a young manager with fresh ideas, who could help them get back to the top.

While they looked at a number of options, Amorim eventually became their priority target. The Portuguese is known for his aggressive pressing and high-intensity style of football, and he tends to stick to his plans even in the toughest of moments. This tactical approach aligns closely with Milan’s stated objective of bringing fresh ideas to their rebuild.

Milan believe Amorim could bring about a massive change at the club. As a result, they were pushing for his signature and had managed to strike a deal with the Portuguese tactician. With a verbal agreement finalized and his signature expected this week, Amorim’s appointment is all but confirmed.
