Predicted Liverpool lineup against Crystal Palace: Frimpong, Mac Allister to return; Alisson in contention

Jeremie Frimpong and Alexis Mac Allister will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool will be eager to continue the recent winning run in the Premier League when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Arne Slot has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is the latest absentee after sustaining a leg injury last weekend against Everton. The Georgian international has joined Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee), Wataru Endo (ankle), and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles) in the treatment room.

However, Alisson Becker may be fit and available to take on Crystal Palace after resuming training this week, while Joe Gomez has regained fitness. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided fitness updates on Alisson, Mamardashvili, Gomez, and Endo.

The Liverpool head coach said, “Giorgi will definitely not be available for tomorrow and also not for the upcoming weeks. Ali is close to a return to play, so let’s see if tomorrow comes too early, yes or no. And that leaves, of course, Freddie Woodman as an option, who is definitely fit.”

“We signed an experienced third goalkeeper for a reason. As well as being a good ‘keeper, he’s a very good man and well-liked in the dressing room, which is important in that role. He’s ready for it. He [Gomez] is back in the squad, so that’s really positive because last week I only had two centre-backs that were playing and no-one on the bench so it’s really helpful that Joe is back.”

“[Endo is] Not with the team yet, but [he is] starting to do exercises outside on the pitch with the rehab team so he is making steps, but he will not be available next week for [Manchester] United or the week after. But we are hoping and expecting him to be back in the end of the season.”

Freddie Woodman will replace Giorgi Mamardashvili between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The backline will feature Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot, with Alexis Mac Allister reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Alexander Isak will lead the line for the home side against Crystal Palace, with Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz completing the numbers in the offensive unit. So, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa will be among the backup options on the bench for the Reds.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Woodman; Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Mac Allister, Wirtz; Isak
