Liverpool fail with big-money bid to sign Michael Olise

Liverpool will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old French international Michael Olise from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. So, the 24-year-old Bayern Munich creative genius has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

The Premier League champions have submitted a bid worth around €150 million to sign the London-born attacker in the summer transfer window. However, the offer has not worked, with Bayern Munich rejecting the proposal, although Liverpool may return with a player-plus-cash arrangement to secure Olise’s services.

How has Michael Olise fared at Bayern Munich?

Michael Olise has established himself as one of the world’s best players since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace over 12 months ago. The 24-year-old was among the most promising attackers in the Premier League when he moved to the Allianz Arena, and he has made exponential progress since the start of the 2024/25 season.

The French international has been excellent in the 2025/26 season thus far, contributing to 38 goals in 36 appearances by scoring 13 times and providing 25 assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Michael Olise has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, as the Premier League champions are preparing for life after Mohamed Salah amid rumours that the Egyptian international will depart from Anfield this summer by moving to the Saudi Pro League.

The Egyptian international is also approaching the twilight of his career, and he will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer. So, Olise has emerged as a viable target for the Merseyside outfit, and they have offered €150 million to Bayern Munich to sign the Frenchman.

However, while a bid worth €150 million may be appealing for most selling clubs, the Bundesliga champions have rejected the proposal. Meanwhile, all may not be lost for Liverpool, as the Reds are mulling over presenting a player-plus-cash arrangement involving Cody Gakpo to Bayern Munich. So, it will be interesting to see if the Premier League champions land the 24-year-old French international.
