Chelsea will reportedly look to sign 18-year-old French defensive wonderkid Tylel Tati from FC Nantes in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Tylel Tati is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back this year. So, the 18-year-old FC Nantes defender has emerged as a target for the West London club.
The 2024/25 FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League winners have submitted an unwritten bid worth €30 million to sign the Frenchman from the relegation-threatened Ligue 1 club in the winter transfer window. Chelsea will be ready to send Tati back to FC Nantes for the second half of the 2025/26 season to sweeten the deal.
Who is Tylel Tati?
Tylel Tati is the latest promising prodigy to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Champigny-sur-Marne, the teenage prospect has spent his formative years thus far in France, starting his youth career with US Roissy-en-Brie before graduating from the youth division at FC Nantes.
The 18-year-old has already broken into the first-team squad at the relegation-threatened Ligue 1 club, making 19 appearances while amassing over 1,500 minutes of game time. Meanwhile, Tati’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Chelsea will be among the prospective suitors vying for the French defender’s signature before the winter transfer window shuts down.
London calling?
Chelsea’s interest in Tylel Tati is understandable. The Blues have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the winter transfer window, and they have pursued several defenders who can hit the ground running in the second half of the 2025/26 season. However, they are also keen on signing a player who can be a long-term solution at the heart of the defence.
Several candidates have thus emerged on Chelsea’s wishlist, with Tati also a viable target. While other Premier League giants have also shown interest in the 18-year-old Frenchman, the West London heavyweights have made their move to beat their rivals to his signature.
The Blues have submitted an unwritten bid worth €30 million to sign Tati from Nantes in the winter transfer window. They are ready to send the French defensive sensation back to the relegation-threatened Ligue 1 outfit if the two clubs secure an agreement. With Mamadou Sarr returning to Chelsea from RC Strasbourg, they can afford to strike a buy-to-loan deal with FC Nantes.
