Fenerbahce join Aston Villa, Tottenham in Omar Marmoush chase

Fenerbahce will reportedly compete with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign 26-year-old Egyptian international Omar Marmoush from Manchester City.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Fotomac, Omar Marmoush is the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. The Turkish Super Lig giants are scouring the market for a versatile attacker and have set their sights on the Manchester City forward. However, while the Yellow Canaries have initiated their move to sign the Egyptian international, they will face stiff competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

How has Omar Marmoush fared at Manchester City?

Omar Marmoush has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth €70 million in January 2025. The 26-year-old arrived at the Etihad with hype surrounding him after an excellent stint with the Bundesliga club, and he was a rare bright spot for City in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

However, Marmoush has dropped in the pecking order this term, managing only 389 minutes of game time in 15 appearances across all competitions thus far, chipping in with only one goal and one assist. Meanwhile, the Egyptian attacker’s stock remains high, with Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Fenerbahce among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

A man in demand

Fenerbahce will dip into the market for a versatile attacker in the final days of the winter transfer window. The Yellow Canaries are preparing to part ways with Youssef En-Nesyri amid his links with Everton, Napoli, and Juventus. Several candidates have thus emerged on Fenerbahce’s radar, with Marmoush also a viable target. The Turkish Super Lig giants are ready to pay his wages to secure a loan deal this month.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Omar Marmoush makes sense. The Lilywhites are combing the market for a versatile attacker, as they have yet to fill Son Heung-min’s void at the club. Additionally, Richarlison’s long-term future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is uncertain, and Spurs have already sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. So, Marmoush is a viable target for Tottenham.

As for Aston Villa, the Villans are keen on signing a versatile attacker who can initially slot anywhere across the offensive unit before succeeding Ollie Watkins as the first-choice striker. Marmoush fits the bill perfectly for Aston Villa. However, Fenerbahce’s entry into the picture complicates matters for the Premier League club.

While the 26-year-old Egyptian international is ready to leave Manchester City on loan in the winter transfer window, Fenerbahce’s willingness to pay his wages is an appealing prospect. However, it will be interesting to see if Aston Villa or Tottenham can convince Marmoush to move across the Premier League this month.
