Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham vying for Jacobo Ramon

Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 21-year-old Spanish centre-back Jacobo Ramon from high-flying Serie A club Como this year.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Jacobo Ramon. The three Premier League giants are scouring the market for a centre-back, and they have set their sights on the 21-year-old Como defensive sensation. However, Real Madrid may play spoilsport, as the Merengues have a buyback clause in their agreement with the Serie A club.

Who is Jacobo Ramon?

Jacobo Ramon has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Serie A since joining Como from Real Madrid this past summer. A native of Madrid, the Spaniard spent his formative years in his hometown and rose through the ranks at Real Madrid’s famed La Fabrica setup. However, the 21-year-old could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 21-year-old hit the ground running at the Serie A club, and he has been a mainstay at the back for Cesc Fabregas’s team. Ramon has amassed nearly 1,500 minutes of game time across 17 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with two goals. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several bigwigs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.

A man in demand

Enzo Maresca wanted Chelsea to sign a centre-back in the summer transfer window, and the issue persists for the West London club despite his departure. With Axel Disasi having no future at Stamford Bridge and Wesley Fofana struggling with fitness issues, Chelsea can do with a new centre-back. So, the Como defender is a viable target for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Jacobo Ramon is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future. Additionally, Virgil van Dijk is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. So, Ramon is an option worth considering for Liverpool.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club may dip into the market for a centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding Cristian Romero’s long-term future. Additionally, Micky van de Ven is a target for several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid. So, Ramon has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham.

However, Real Madrid may play spoilsport in the battle for Ramon’s signature, as they have a buyback clause that enables them to re-sign the 21-year-old Spaniard from Como this year. The Premier League bigwigs are in a similar situation in the race to sign Nico Paz, and the two youngsters may leave the Serie A club to rejoin Real Madrid in the coming months.
