Manchester City confident of winning Antoine Semenyo race

Manchester City will be surprised if they lose the race to sign 25-year-old Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo amid rumours of a possible hijack from Liverpool.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Antoine Semenyo is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Bournemouth attacker has emerged as a target for them.

Widespread reports have also linked the London-born attacker with Liverpool, with the Premier League champions yet to give up on signing the Bournemouth attacker, who will cost around £65 million, including add-ons. However, Manchester City will be surprised if they lose the battle for Semenyo’s signature amid claims of a possible hijack from Liverpool.

How has Antoine Semenyo fared in the Premier League?

Antoine Semenyo has taken no time to become a household name since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023. The 25-year-old winger did not take long to become a pivotal figure for the Cherries, and he has made significant progress in the last three years.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian international has enjoyed a solid 2025/26 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 16 Premier League appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Semenyo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs. Liverpool and Manchester City are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Antoine Semenyo has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Mohamed Salah faces an uncertain future at Anfield beyond the 2025/26 season. So, the Reds have set their sights on the Bournemouth attacker as a long-term replacement for their long-serving talisman. However, Liverpool may not be in pole position to secure his services.

As for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola wants more firepower in the final third, as there has not been enough productivity from the flanks. Semenyo is thus an option worth considering, as he can bring the consistency that has been lacking from Manchester City’s offensive plays. Recent reports have suggested that the London-born winger is pushing to join City by January 1.

That may be the reason why the Citizens are confident of winning the race to sign Semenyo, who has a release clause of £65 million in his contract with Bournemouth. It will be interesting to see if Manchester City can beat Liverpool to the 25-year-old Ghanaian international’s signature.
