Liverpool face battle to keep Joshua Abe amid emerging links

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 15-year-old English wonderkid Joshua Abe from Liverpool.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on signing Joshua Abe. The two London giants never shy away from signing promising prodigies to reinforce their youth setups. So, the 15-year-old Liverpool wonderkid has emerged as a target for the Premier League bigwigs.

Chelsea will aim to snatch Abe from Liverpool as a measure of revenge after losing Rio Ngumoha to the Merseyside club last year. The teenage sensation has compelled scouts to hail him as “the best of his age group” amid his emerging links with Chelsea and Arsenal. With the youngster “yet to sign scholarship terms” with Liverpool, the Reds are in a spot of bother over his future.

Who is Joshua Abe?

Liverpool’s Joshua Abe is the latest highly rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. The 15-year-old has spent his formative years thus far in England, rising through the ranks at the Merseyside club; he currently represents Liverpool’s under-18 side despite being only 15.

The English attacking sensation has amassed two goals and two assists in only five appearances in the under-18 Premier League, and scouts have hailed him as “the best of his age group” due to his exploits for Liverpool’s youth sides. Meanwhile, Abe’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal and Chelsea are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Will Abe join Arsenal or Chelsea?

Arsenal’s interest in Joshua Abe is understandable. The Gunners never shy away from reacting to market opportunities, with their academy producing many wondrous players like Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri. Recent reports have linked Arsenal with several wonderkids, including Christos Mouzakitis, and Abe is also a viable target.

As for Chelsea, the Blues have been renowned for signing every prodigy possible since BlueCo took over from Roman Abramovich. Deinner Ordonez will be the latest wonderkid to join Chelsea after the West London outfit secured an agreement to land him. So, it is hardly surprising that Abe has emerged as a target.

The report has revealed that Chelsea will aim to exact revenge on Liverpool after the Merseyside outfit signed Rio Ngumoha from the West London club last year. So, with the Reds scrambling to keep hold of the 15-year-old English wonderkid, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
